A Internationally active manufacturer of steel girders for railroad wagons with production site in the Slovakia. The company is in the Heavy industry / metal processing active and manufactures Customized carrier systems for rail vehicle construction - under demanding conditions such as dirt, dust and metallic environments.
The challenge
Steel beams must be clearly and unambiguously traceable in the production process. The aim was to label each girder with a barcode from the production consignment bill. directly on the metal, mobile and without stationary infrastructure.
The previous solution was purely paper-based - there was no way of labeling components in a machine-readable and robust manner. Traditional labels were unsuitable: They adhere poorly to metal, get dirty easily or come off. In addition, there was no IT infrastructure available for printers or data transfer.
