BMW operates its own test laboratories for quality assurance and new development. There, laboratory samples are produced daily from various materials such as Plastic, foam, textile, metal and glass tested, documented and clearly labeled.
Clear, comprehensible labeling is essential - both for internal processes and for the traceability of samples.
The challenge
The laboratory samples were previously labeled manually by hand. This caused several problems:
- Spelling mistakes and inconsistent labeling
- Partially poorly legible markings
- No direct system connection to SAP
- High time expenditure due to manual entries
Especially with changing materials and many patterns, this approach was Inefficient and error-prone.
The solution
BMW decided to use the REINER jetStamp® 1025 sense in combination with a Barcode scanner add-on and MP3 and MP6 inks.
