Würth Elektronik GmbH & Co. KG
One of the leading PCB manufacturers in Europe. The company relies on modern multilayer technology to meet the increasing demands of electronics miniaturization.
challenge
In multilayer PCB production, the Clear traceability of each individual layer essential.
Problem definition in the process:
- DataMatrixCodes are applied to inner layers in early production steps
- In multi-layer technology, these identifiers are later covered by additional copper foils
- The identification of the individual layers is therefore no longer visible or legible
The solution previously used - a manually adjustable stamp with a separate ink pad - was Error-prone, inflexible and not sufficiently reliable.
Solution
For reliable marking of the copper foils, Würth Elektronik relies on the mobile marking printer jetStamp® graphic 970.
The solution in detail:
- Mobile, wireless direct printing of consecutive numbers and DataMatrix codes
- Machine-readable codes and plain text in one print image
- Data transfer via existing systems (ERP, Windows applications or Excel macros)
- Transfer via USB or Bluetooth
In the specific application, data is transferred via a Once programmed Excel macro solution. The employee scans the DataMatrix code on the ticket, transfers the data to the device with a click and triggers printing.
result
The new labeling solution ensures Highest data quality with minimal time expenditure:
- Clear labeling that can be assigned at any time
- Machine readability for subsequent production steps
- Reduction of manual errors
- Significantly optimized workflows
Precise direct printing enables fast identification and evaluation - for both machines and employees.
Conclusion
With the jetStamp® graphic 970, Würth Elektronik has been able to Ensuring long-term traceability in multilayer production.
The solution is convincing:
- High process reliability
- Simple integration into existing IT structures
- Mobile, flexible application directly in production
- Future-proof labeling for complex production processes
A practical example of how Direct printing solutions make industrial production more transparent and efficient.
