In cities such as Milan, Florence, Rome and Naples in particular, many different ticket types, travelers and control situations come together every day.

As part of the preparations for the 2015 World Expo in Milan, Trenitalia was looking for a reliable solution to better control access to certain areas of the station and to be able to identify tickets quickly and traceably.

challenge

Train stations are open transportation hubs with high passenger volumes. At the same time, the requirements for security, control and traceable processes are increasing. Trenitalia was faced with the task of validating a wide variety of ticket types quickly, flexibly and unambiguously - regardless of whether they were issued at ticket machines, travel agencies, service points, tourist information offices or as part of special promotions.

The identification had to be able to contain various pieces of information, such as the date, time, personal control codes or consecutive numbering. In addition, the process had to be easy to use for control staff and not require travelers to have any additional language or special knowledge.

Solution

With the REINER speed-i-Jet 798 Trenitalia found a mobile and flexible marking solution for use directly at checkpoints in the station. The compact device can be guided over the ticket like a marking pen and enables fast, clear marking on paper.

The mobile printer is used, for example, in station areas that are only accessible to passengers with a valid ticket. The ticket is marked directly during the check. This makes it possible to verify that access to the respective area has already been checked during further checks.

A major advantage: the imprint can be flexibly placed on a wide variety of ticket formats. This makes the solution particularly suitable for rail tickets from many different issuing points and in different states.

result

Thanks to the clear ticket marking, Trenitalia has been able to make checks at selected station areas more efficient and improve the traceability of ticket routes. Inspection staff now have a simple way of clearly marking checked tickets. At the same time, travelers benefit from an orderly, comprehensible control process.

What was originally introduced as part of the Expo preparations in Milan developed into a practical solution for other stations in Italy - from Florence to Rome and Naples.

For Trenitalia, mobile ticket marking means greater transparency, better control and additional support in dealing with tickets that have been purchased incorrectly or not clearly validated. Travelers will have a better sense of security and orientation at the station.

Advantages at a glance

Quick and easy application directly at the checkpoint

Flexible labeling of different ticket types

Mobile device for use at various stations

Clear coding for better traceability

Support for security and control processes in passenger transportation

[105,269
post-17305","erfolgsgeschichten","type-erfolgsgeschichten","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-case-studies","category-speed-i-jet-798
["GET
